A CHINESE man charged with breaching his work visa was ordered to surrender his passport to the Wagani Committal Court yesterday.
Lin Nengbin from Fujian province, China was alleged to have performed a role not specified in his work visa.
On Nov 18, Nengbin while working for the E&A Investment Ltd at 4-Mile in Port Moresby was serving customers at the shop counter while holding a work visa as a human resource manager.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar ordered that he be on an extended bail of K500 and to hand his passport to the court registry.
Police indicated that Nengbin was allegedly seen working at the counter as the store keeper at midday when police attended to a complaint lodged by a Vagi Arere of Porebada village, Hiri, Central province for using insulting words against a customer.
Nengbin did not provide his passport, visa and work permit when he was apprehended.
The shop’s management only provided photocopies of the documents/permits indicating that his designated role was as a human resource manager. The case was adjourned to Feb 25.
