A 39-YEAR-OLD woman accused of stabbing and seriously injuring another woman had her case dismissed due to incomplete police investigations.
Magistrate Ernest Wilmot made an order to strike out the case of Julie Yali, from Ipus village at Laiagam, Enga, charged for attempted murder of Janet Muli, when the court found that the case was in court for more than three months and police files were not ready to be served to her.
Yali first appeared at the Committal Court in Waigani, on May 15, where she was arraigned by the court.
She made three more appearances and her fourth appearance yesterday lead magistrate Wilmot to strike out the case for want of prosecution.
It was alleged that on May 1, between 12.30pm and 12.45pm at the Morata Community Hall, Muli was at her brother-in-law’s residence when Yali allegedly went into the premises and started an argument with Muli.
While arguing, Yali allegedly took a kitchen knife and stabbed Muli several times on the back of her head and other parts of her body.
Muli sustained serious injuries and loss of blood.
She was rushed to Port Moresby General Hospital emergency ward where she was treated and admitted.
Yali was chased and caught by bystanders and taken to the Boroko Police Station.
