CITY Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) Group’s netball team will have a new training facility at Gerehu, according to managing director Mahesh Patel.
He mention that during the presentation of new apparel to the team at their Waigani showroom in Port Moresby on Wednesday. The Group’s head office is at Gerehu.
“That will be done so that they don’t have to travel all the way to the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex to train,” he said.
“Plus it will be an extra encouragement for the players to train a little harder and boost their morale.”
Coach Oti Lasagabivau said the Private Companies Netball Competition was all about building networks with women from other companies.
“It is all about having fun too,” she said.
“We go out there to play and make friends with women from different companies so that when we go somewhere like the airport, hospital or shops, we already know someone there.
“That’s why we’re part of the competition.
“So I’m happy to see the CPL management supporting the team. It means a lot to me as the coach.
“The new facility will definitely be of great benefit to the team as we don’t have to travel all the way from Gerehu to Rita Flynn to use the training facilities.
“We finished fourth (in our division) last season so we are trying to go all the way to the finals this season and hopefully get a win.”
The former Pepes assistant coach said when she first took charge of the team, they did not show much interest.
However, Lasagabivau said she brought the Pepes culture into the team and that had motivated the players to step up.
