CRICKET Papua New Guinea (CPNG) will now benefit from medical and general insurance cover for another year following Capital Insurance Group’s extension of their partnership with the federation.
The company will sponsor CPNG’s general insurance programme, which covers travel, personal accident, vehicle, workers compensation, industrial special risk and public liability. It amounts to more than K67,000.
CPNG general manager Tony Naidu said the partnership had helped them last year especially amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
“It has been tough for everyone amid the pandemic,” he said.
“But to have partnerships that grew amid the pandemic means a lot to us.
“Without partners like Capital Insurance Group, we wouldn’t have kept all our staff.
“We didn’t lay off any staff amid the pandemic.”
Company chief executive Jeremy Norton said the partnership was about promoting healthy living.
“As an organisation, it’s important to prioritise the health and wellbeing of Papua New Guineans,” he said.
“We see that cricket is playing a fantastic role in communities in terms of health and wellbeing.
“We do look after the insurance of CPNG, but we are in discussions about what this relationship could look like in the future.
“We’d like to play a role in people’s health before they get sick, so it’s better for them and everybody.”
