AN Under-15 women’s cricket series, supported by the New Zealand High Commission, continued its journey around the country with the fourth event held in Lae, Morobe, on Wednesday.
Made up of students from Taraka Primary School, AOG Christian Academy, Haikoast Primary School, Omili Primary School and St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, four teams represented England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea in the Brian Bell U15 Women’s Village World Cup Series.
Cricket PNG general manager Tony Naidu, game development manager Margaret Sibona, Bank South Pacific Financial Limited Group (BSP) School Kriket coordinator Henao Samuel and domestic cricket manager Lakani Oala attended the event, along with local BSP School Kriket regional coordinator Daniel Kacho and his team.
“Today is about having fun and making new friends more than anything else,” Samuel told the players. Game development manager Margaret Sibona said: “There are no prizes for best batter or bowler, everyone gets prizes because you are all winners.”
Thanks to Brian Bell and the high commission, all the players received a prize and playing shirt.
England have earned the right to represent Lae in Port Moresby next month, as all the regional winners will attend a champions’ day at Amini Park.
