Creative arts industries encouraged to form associations

RESPECTIVE creative industries should work collectively as a group and register associations with rules of conduct, according to the Investment Promotion Authority.
Managing director Clarence Hoot said this in response to complaints raised by various players in the creative arts industries on the infringement of copyright and intellectual property (IP) rights in the country.
He said the current observations indicated that creative industries were fragmented.
Hoot noted that individual players wanted to pursue their own interests, however, it would be useful for artisans with a common interest that shared common intellectual property rights to work together.
“They can come together as a group and decide how to manage their rights collectively and be represented by a legal body,” he said.
