THE Port Moresby’s sub-branch of the Returned and Services League of Australia (RSL) has earned praise from Cricket Papua New Guinea and its players for their partnership in developing the next generation of cricketers in the country.
The recent assistance from the RSL saw PNG women’s cricket pair Vicky Ara’a and Brenda Tau join Ipswich/Logan Cricket Club for the 2018/19 Katherine Raymond Shield in Queensland’s premier women’s club competition.
“I want to thank the RSL for everything they have done for me and Vicky,” Tau said.
Tau said she was grateful for the life-changing experience.
“I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the opportunity given to me by RSL,” she said.
“We stayed there (Brisbane) for six months and it was the greatest cricket experience of my life.”.
The 21-year-old wicket-keeper from Hanuabada is No.32 in the top-100 women’s T20 batting ranking.
