Suburban win Southern Confederate C’ships title

PORT Moresby Suburban shocked Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) One 6-0 in the men’s final of Southern Confederate Championships at Kwikila on Saturday.
This is the first time that Suburban have won the major honours from PRL after trying to beat them since 2014 when the confederation system was introduced. Port Moresby South were also tipped to do well but were unlucky again this year.
The top-eight teams in the finals were PRL One and Two, Gulf, Siouposa, Aroma Coast, Port Moresby South, Port Moresby Suburban and Daru.
Meanwhile, Mairi has announced a 35-man train-on squad for the National Confederate Championships in Lae from Sept 5-8.
He said the squad would be cut to 20 before travelling to Lae. Training starts at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby today.
