Crimes against cops not tolerated

NO country, government or police force in the world would be dictated by people who had no regard for the rule of law, National Capital District Met Supt Perou N’dranou says.
“No policeman will be attacked by criminals, the threats that we have received from the public is against the law.
“And we will not respect them when we go in,” he said.
N’dranou said the clash between police and residents of a settlement in Erima, Port Moresby, last weekend was unfortunate.
N’dranou said police received a threat from “police radio network” that some people were trying to attack police in situations in the city.
“These people continue to think they can impose their negative cultural attitudes on many of the residents of the city.
“Police will not tolerate such behaviour.
“And police will not back down just to ensure rule of law should prevail for peace and harmony.
“Over the weekend, our members had to stay on duty well after their scheduled hours of 16 hours’ work to ensure police presence was there,” N’dranou said.
“We cannot continue to allow tribal conflicts and major lawlessness in the city.
“We don’t have adequate manpower to police incidents happening in the city.”
