CS farewells Melenge

 CORRECTIONAL Service officers joined friends and relatives of David Melange at his funeral service at the Rev Sione Kami Memorial Church in Port Moresby, yesterday.

Correctional Services Minister Jim Simatab, Works Minister Francis Awesa, Law and Justice Secretary Lawrence Kalinoe and other government officials attended.

Melange, who died in Goroka, Easter Highlands, on Feb 13, joined the Correctional Services in 1973. 

He is survived by three wives, children and grandchildren.

Melange, the deputy commissioner-corporate affairs, was with Commissioner Martin Balthazar at the CS commanders’ annual conference in Goroka when he passed away.

Balthazar passed away two days later.

The Government is going to investigate their deaths.

Melange’s body  will leave today for Kiburu, Mendi in Southern Highlands on a chartered PNG Defence Force aircraft.

An advance party of 75 CS officers from the Highlands region will receive the casket in a guard of honour at Mendi Airport.
