Culture and tradition boost tourism: TPA

THE major tourism attraction in PNG is its diverse cultures and traditions, according to the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority.
Director marketing and research Alice Kuaningi told students during the Don Bosco Technical School Cultural show in Port Moresby to preserve their cultures and traditions.
“It is pleasing to note that schools are making it a priority to include cultural singsings in their annual school calendars, to encourage our children to preserve their cultures and traditions,” she said.
Kuaningi said tourism was an important industry in the country which had great economic potential .
“Annually we market and promote our major cultural events such as the National Mask Festival, Sepik Crocodile Festival, Hagen Show, Goroka Show, Digaso Kundu Festival, Canoe and Kundu Festival in Milne Bay,” she said.
