CHIMBU’S Kerowagi Coffee Cup will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on Sunday with the rugby league competition eyeing a formal approach to the game’s new administrative structure.
Cup acting administrator Lucas Mek told The National yesterday that the meeting was to elect executives to steer the competition under the Papua New Guinea Ruby Football League’s “New Ireland Model”.
“We’re hosting our pre-season nines for our second season, but we’ve sent out details on the meeting to clubs and officials who will be attending,” he said.
“We’ve also sent out circulars to interested clubs who wish join us this year.
“We will be using the isolation period to sort out team and player registrations.
“The New Ireland Model says that there has to be an AGM where we can elect our executives to a three-year term.
“So we’ve decided to elect our office bearers early before we move into our season.”
Mek said only elected club officials and presidents were allowed to contest executive positions for the Cup.
He said voting eligibility of clubs was based on their administrative record.
