Curtain Brothers CPNG Women’s T20 Smash starts

SIBONA Jimmy took six wickets for eight runs to help Ela Motors Cassowaries (75/5) beat the Oil Search Foundation Mariners (74 all out) by five wickets on the opening day of the Curtain Brothers Women’s T20 Smash yesterday at Amini Park.
Jimmy’s effort did not end with the all-rounder then top scoring with 33 runs as her side reached the target for the loss of five wickets in the 14th over. The four-team competition will continue to the final on Aug 18 wheN top two finishers will face off for the Curtain Bros Shield.
The morning fixture saw the BSP Black Bass (118/3) beat the CPL Mudwomen (103/5) by 15 runs.
The Bass compiled a competitive 118/3 with Norma Ovasuru hitting 40 run while captain Tanya Ruma added 25 as the mainstays in the order; Majory Tupolau also chimed in with a useful 18.
The three wickets to fall were shared between Gari Buruka, Naoani Vare and Essy David
In reply the Mudwomen found the going difficult against some good bowling finishing 103/5 off their 20 overs, losing by 15 runs.
Naoani Vare with a fighting 27 runs and an unbeaten 25 from Kila Frank were not enough to get the Mudwomen over the line; tight bowling by Bibra Keopa (2-29), Ovasuru (1-13) and Henao Thomas (1-17) saw the Bass snatch the win.
