Sparrows, Telstars eye grand final

PORT Moresby Netball Association minor premiers NAS Telstars take on reigning champions Credit Corp Sparrows in the Port Moresby Netball Association premier grand-final qualifier at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex tomorrow.
The winners secure the first grand-final berth while the loser plays the winner of the match between Snax Mermaids and City Pharmacy Rebels for another shot at remaining spot in the big dance.
Telstars’ gun player is Boio Peter, who has arguably been the most outstanding player in the competition all season.
Telstars have experienced hands in Gamini Koroka, Julienne Diro, Raka Nope and Albert Une Ehari.
Sparrows will be counting on shooting ace Mary Leka Jr and may keep regular defender Courtney Abel up front, an experiment trialed last week by coach Julianne Leka Maliaki.
Maliaki will also rely heavily on Neritha Adula in mid-court and Kilala Owen in defence. Meanwhile, Jeperth Tulapi must make all her shooting opportunities count if Mermaids are to overcome Rebels.
