Dabaris say leaky defence cost them victory

THE Central Dabaris say their poor completion rate and leaky defence cost them a win following Sunday’s 16-16 draw with the Kimbe Cutters in Port Moresby.
Dabaris coach Bagelo Solien said the quality of rugby from his side was poor over the weekend with ball possession playing a huge part in their tie with the Cutters.
“A draw is better than a loss, you can’t hide that fact,” he said.
“But I’m not happy with the result.
“We dropped a lot balls and missed a lot tackles.
“We didn’t communicate well in defence but I think the refereeing wasn’t up to standard today.
“It was below average.
“It’s about discipline and we’ve got to learn how to hold onto the ball and finish our sets.
“If you don’t hold onto the ball, you don’t get opportunities – it’s simple as that.”
Solien said the passing of Andrew Stone last week had taken a toll on the club with the players and team management shocked by the head trainer’s death.
“It affected our training all week but we knew we had to focus.”
