Lahanis vow to turn poor start around

THE Goroka Lahanis are backing their young squad to turn their Digicel Cup season around despite starting the country’s premier rugby league competition with three straight losses.
Coach Michael Moses said he was impressed with his side’s performance despite their 8-18 loss to last year’s losing grand finalists Hela Wigmen in Port Moresby on Sunday.
“We’ve learnt a lot playing against a team like Wigmen and they had a good backline,” he said.
“What we learnt was the speed of the game.
“Most of our players are transitioning from the village leagues to the Digicel Cup.
“Our five-eighth Warren Apaio and young Joseph Karara did well but it’ll take time for them to find their feet in the Digicel Cup.
“Our younger players stood out and I’m proud of them.
“We’ll work on what went wrong.
“I’d like to coach some of our young players individually because they have a great future ahead of them.”
Moses said he would stick with his halves.
The Bintangor Goroka Lahanis are yet to register a win after three rounds.
