According to Dadi Toka Jr, chief executive officer of the foundation, funds from the challenge will go towards bringing cancer education and awareness programmes to various communities and schools throughout the country next year.
“The PNG Institute of Medical Research estimates that one in 10 deaths in PNG is cancer-related and August which is Daffodil Month, is aimed at providing hope for a healthier nation by encouraging Papua New Guineans to challenge themselves to reduce their risk of cancer by making healthy lifestyle choices,” Toka said.
“Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and don’t smoke, don’t chew betel nut and reduce your alcohol intake.
“Start the conversation about cancer prevention today. Protect your family from cancer.”
