International referee to judge fights next month

Papua New Guinea Pro Boxing Federation has announced that international professional boxing referee and judge Brad Vocale, pictured, will officiate in their Sept 10-12 show in Port Moresby.
Vocale has judged and refereed fights involving current WBO heavywight champion Joseph Parker.
Federation president Elvin Wafewa said Vocale’s presence in Papua New Guinea would mean a lot for professional boxing and other martial art codes.
Vocale will arrive on Sept 8 and he will conduct a two-day seminar from Sept 8-9 for interested Papua New Guineans who wish to be martial arts judges and referees.
After the seminar, he will be the main judge for the big event, which will start on Sept 10 and finish on Sept 12.
Wefewa is now calling on any interested person from all sporting codes in the country to contact him and register themselves with K100 to be part of the seminar to acquire more knowledge from the top referee and judge in proboxing.
“The seminar is open to anyone who has interest to be judges and referees of boxing and pro boxing,” Wafewa said.
“If you are interested in bocing or becoming a judge or a referee sometime, this is the opportunity to get yourself involved to achieve you dream in this sport.
“We think that PNG more youths who have the talent to fight to represent the country but the code lack wider awareness and encouragement to the youths to get involved on this code.”
Vocale will also select fighters in Papua New Guinea to market them to the outside world in boxing and other martial arts.
He will also register Papua New Guinea Pro-Boxing Federation to the world body.
