THE principal of Niu Age Lawyers re-arrested in May in relation to staying the operation of former prime minister Peter O’Neill’s arrest in 2019 will return to court on July 10.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Dessie Kaputin Magaru sought the adjournment on Friday to allow police to compile a hand-up brief.
George Lau, 40, of Kaipare village in Laiagam, Enga is charged with two counts each of forgery, uttering, taking false oath and a count of conspiracy to defraud.
Lau was initially arrested and charged but the matter was struck out due to incomplete court files.
Police suspected that Lau received instructions from O’Neill on Oct 15, 2019 between 11am and 6pm to provide legal advice to stay the operation for his warrant of arrest obtained by police on Oct 11, 2019.
Lau and others were alleged to have gone to the Court house and colluded with registry clerk Christine Moiyang to have the warrant of arrest, notice of motion, affidavits in support, police information and summary of facts printed to apply for an urgent stay order.
