Deal made for housing development

NAMBAWAN Super Ltd (NSL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Lands and Physical Planning to provide affordable housing development in Port Moresby. The NSL has leased Portion 2158 for the housing development. Lands and Physical Planning Minister John Rosso said the department had been working with the NSL and the National Capital District Commission to facilitate the development of a master plan which would include affordable housing. “We have signed (the memorandum) to start the process of developing the 8-9-Mile land, starting with Portion 2158,” he said. “The land is about 36 hectares – to add to Portion 2156, 2157, and 2159. “Combined, they will have sufficient land to develop a large-scale development expected to set the standard and trend for master planned developments of which affordable housing is a major consideration.” Rosso said Portion 2158 was vacant.
