Defence shock Brown Eagles

DEFENCE upset reigning champions Brown Eagles 2-0 in Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association at the Bisini Diamonds on Sunday.
Fielding errors by Eagles allowed Defence’s Jonos Paon and Gabby Maloni to race home in the fifth inning.
The pitcher-and-catcher combination of Mosley Obed and Lepan Maradi helped keep the Eagles at bay.
Defence’s solid fielding also helped deny the Eagles from reaching the home plate.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of former United Brothers senior player and PNG captain Dick Bart Jr has boosted the Bears’ morale and team spirit as they look to maintain their solid form in the early stages of the competition.
Bart is a no-nonsense softballer and despite his size and weight, he keeps putting in solid performances to help the Bears grow from strength to strength.
In the other encounters, Stingerz beat PNG Power 17-5 and Saints crushed Aviat Jets 19-1.
