 A DELEGATION, including board members of Bank of PNG (BPNG), visited Ramu NiCo’s (MCC) Basamuk Refinery in Rai Coast, Madang, last Wednesday.
Former Lae MP Bart Philemon and deputy governor of BPNG Benny Popoitai were part of the group.
Ramu NiCo vice-president Charles Zha said the project was a world class nickel laterite mine with investments of US$1.99 billion.
The project was in three main parts – Kurumbukari mine, Basamuk Refinery and 135km of pipeline – and  covered four landowner (LOA) areas with a population of about  15,000.
