Demand for masks rise

A LOCAL tailoring company is working hard to cater for the increasing orders for reusable face masks from organisations, as the Covid-19 state of emergency enters its sixth week.
Joie’s Tailoring Ltd director Janet Sios said they started making the reusable face masks because of the demand.
“We have a lot of organsiations and companies already ordering (such as) Exxon Mobil, the banks and National Maritime (Safety Authority),” she said.
“They are ordering and we are organising our staff (to meet the demand). We might have a couple of shifts. We are working day and night.”

  • I was wondering and would like some one to help me out, many people and small tailoring firms are selling and making fast money on producing cotton face mask during this COVID-19 period. Are they were fully certify by the WHO and health authority in PNG to be used for precautions or just prevent us from breathing dust because right now every streets and corners of towns in PNG,you will see everyone selling mask for k2 and k1.50 to our people, thank you..

  • Opportunists are taking this to their advantage, producing makeshifts (unprofessionally woven/stitched or medically not certified masks). Literally, it is a protective item in this time of need, but may have side effects on the respiratory system. PNG need to keep up to standards and prepare for trying times as such. It is an alarm to all that we do in life.
