Chief secretary Ivan Pomaleu has urged staff of the Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council (NEC) to change their work culture as they prepare to move to the new office building called Melanesian Haus.
He made the call during a dedication ceremony at the new office on Monday.
Pomaleu told the staff present that as they embark on this new chapter, it is imperative to underscore the essence of professionalism and integrity that must permeate every facet of their operations.
“Our department stands as the epitome of premier government service, and as stewards of this esteemed institution, it is required of us to uphold the highest standards of conduct and bearing.
“Allow me to emphasise that the transition to this new building signifies not just a change in infrastructure, but a transformation in mindset. “We must leave behind the relics of old habits and embrace a culture of professionalism, integrity, and positivity.
“Let us ensure that our attire and demeanor exude the dignity befitting officers of the PM and NEC,” he said.
Pomaleu urged the staff to wear proper footwear at all times when at work, and informed them that the indulgence in betel nut chewing and smoking within office premises shall be prohibited.
