THE Finance Department will continue to rollout the new integrated financial management system (IFMS) around the country, says Finance Minister Rainbo Paita.
This comes after concerns were raised by some districts that the system needed access to electricity and the internet.
Paita said they would go ahead with the roll-out.
“These are just infrastructure challenges which we have already budgeted for,” he said.
“We will address those issues some districts have complained about.
“We have budgeted for five districts already.”
The system has already been rolled out in 103 sites around the country.
“Why we want IFMS is because it will ensure that there is accountability, accessibility and create a transparent environment.”
Paita said the system was operating in 19 provinces.
“Port Moresby, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and Chimbu are the only provinces still using the (old) PGAS system.”
Paita said the Government was about transparency and visibility which the new system would create.
He said he was aware of the complaints and had also received several in writing from districts.
