Dept to set up Tvet centres in districts

THE Education Department is planning to have technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) centres in all district, says secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
He told governors in Port Moresby yesterday that the country needed tradesmen and tradeswomen because “these are the people that actually move the country.”
“Unless we provide enough Tvet programmes and centres for our children, we will not progress as a country.
“Not all of us are going to be doctors or employed in white-collar jobs. We need tradesmen and tradeswomen in every district.” He said there were two levels of Tvet programmes in the country – provincial and national.
