EDUCATION secretary Dr Uke Kombra says the department will continue its work to improve reforms that have been implemented over the years until they achieve the objective of quality education.
Kombra said reforms such as such as the standards based education curriculum, the 1-6-6 structure, early childhood education, National School of Excellence, audit of the payroll system and the flexible open distance education (Fode) were all geared to improving the quality and accessibility of education.
“We at the senior management level are committed to providing the leadership to achieve quality education for all and we need to do it right,” he said. Kombra said the department would work to ensure the Government’s aim for quality education for all students and for all students in high school and secondary school to complete grade 12 by 2027.
Kombra congratulated Education Minister Jimmy Uguro for his re-appointment.
“I thank the people of Usino Bundi for having trust in Uguro and re-electing him for a second term,” he said.
“Uguro said for all young Papua New Guineans to be educated the government was building capacity in schools and also expanding other programmes such as the Fode, and technical and vocational schools.
He said it was the Government’s vision to have no student left behind or dropping out of education.
He also warned against nepotism and bribery in getting places in secondary and tertiary institutions and cheating during exams in schools.
