THE Papua New Guinea Football Association has been granted approval by the Deputy Pandemic Controller Dr Daoni Esorom to start its 2022 competitions throughout the country from March 12 onwards.
In a letter addressed to the association’s general secretary Pius Letenge on Tuesday, Esorom said the approval was issued on the assurance that all Coronavirus (Covid-19) Niupela Pasin measures will be followed during the events.
“Failure to comply with our Niupela Pasin measures can result in termination of the event and its related activities,” Esorom said.
According to Esorom, the association will have its competitions and activities from March to December.
Specific directives include;

  • NO more than 100 participants at any one time;
  • ALL (Covid-19) Niupela Pasin protocols and procedures are strictly followed;
  • A guest register must be available for contact tracing;
  • ALL participants are encouraged to be vaccinated or tested (for Covid-19) 2-3 days prior to the games; and,
  • NO spectators allowed and/or spectating by other teams.

“Due to the current surge of infection in the National Capital District, it is highly recommended that all Covid-19 Niupela Pasin protocols and procedures are followed and strictly complied with,” Esorom said. “Failure to comply with our Niupela Pasin measures can result in termination of the event and its related activities.
“Do take note that the Niupela Pasin team from the National Control Centre or the Provincial Health Authority will also be monitoring these activities.
“This is part of its routine function to ensure compliance.”
