DEPUTY Prime Minister and Regional Member for East New Britain, Sir Leo Dion has paid tribute to one of ENB’s successful local businessman, the late Blasius Tidi Ngatia.
Despite limitations in education, late Tidi became a highly successful and well-respected businessman in the province.
He died early this month at the age of 86.
During a distribution ceremony or kututabu to mark the end of mourning, Sir Leo said Tidi was a man of wisdom who humbled himself in business, church and government. Sir Leo, who was acting prime minister at the time said Tidi persevered in his dreams and wisdom despite the fact that he had little formal education.
He said Tidi left a legacy for all to emulate.
Sir Leo said he had attended the ceremony out of respect for what Tidi had done for the province and the nation. He said he had attended the ceremony as a close friend of the late Tidi to pay his respects.  The traditional kututabu ceremony attracted a large crowd.
