THE PNG Correctional Services (CS) has transferred 15 prisoners to the Moreguina rural lockup prison in Central 11 years after its establishment.
These low risk prisoners were transferred from Bomana prison in the National Capital District to Moreguina in Abau district to clean up the prison for other low risk prisoners to be transferred in to do community work at the Moreguina station as part of their rehabilitation programme.
CS Sgt Bizzi Kuyae said yesterday that the Moreguina rural lockup in the Cloudy Bay local level government was abandoned 10 years ago after the contractor engaged to construct the prison left.
“We did pay the contractor but they had a bad relationship with the local community and left,” Sgt Kuyae said.
“And now we are returning which six CS officers had already came here in 2015 and completed some work left by the contractor.
“They also took care of the facility. And now we brought the prisoners. They will clean up the place in preparation for the official operating next month in October.”

  • gutpla progress… that is the way to take back PNG…extra manpower and low cost labour to clean the township!

  • What did the MP for Abau do with the K100 million he received for past ten years.
He could have got friend and fugitive Tjandra’s company to complete the lockup
