Women silently suffering

LAE MP John Rosso wants MPs to take the lead in addressing gender-based violence (GBV), especially against women and girls, because it is permeating the society from the cities to the towns and villages.
Rosso, who is the Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, said there were much outcry against GBV in the cities but women and girls were silently suffering in the rural areas without being heard.
He said family members, relatives and the community watched as women were burnt or beaten up and killed by their husbands and very young girls were raped.
“It’s wrong, we need to ensure that these people who perpetrate these injustices to our women and children need to be sent to prison for life,” he said.
“We need to seriously address it.
He said when a (GBV) complaint was reported at the police station, it should not be regarded as a family issue to be settled through compensation.
“We must outlaw compensation.”
He said there were adequate laws to address GBV issues and people need to be educated. “We need to do a lot more awareness.”

  • Agree with the statement “We must out law compensation” this sense of compensation indirectly encourage violence in rural society and it also protect the culprit to think his beyond justices. We need law and order to free this issues GBV in every societies of this beautiful christian Nation.

  • Woman and girls must also think on how to secure themselves from been treated like that. Few woman face those because they dont know how to submit to their husband and that leads what is happening around the country. Many woman stand upon woman’s law for this country and end up in creating many problem in the family.

  • 1 Peter 3: 1-7 Said,
    Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that if and obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
    7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
    The Point here is Women Submitted to your Own Husbands and Men also Submitted to your Own Wives, when doing that you will see there’re will see no Violence in community, Town and Society.

  • There are two contributing factor to GBV.
    1. Very weak law and order. we break the Law and create the Law. what are we trying to prove? there is no STABILITY AT ALL. Fix the law for good, NO BREAKING AND CREATING BUSINESS.
    2. To our beautiful women around the country, don’t take advantages of any Laws we have in the country because you are not yet fully guarantee. let respect our-self and then our husband or friends.
