Designer launches contemporary clothes designs

FASHION designer Wandid Amini Korimbo says designs on her line of clothing came from different parts of the country.
“So it’s going to be quite different and we look forward to having customers visit Jack’s of PNG shops and buy our products to support local designers.”
Korimbo launched her Christmas clothes at Jack’s of PNG Waigani Central branch in Port Moresby yesterday.
“We have seven different designs in men’s shirts, two styles for ladies shirts and three styles for ladies dresses,” she said.
“Today, the designs are quite different. We’ve decided to go with a bit of not-too-busy.
“The motifs, designs and inspirations came from tools that we used.
“We have axes (stone axes), we’ve got some designs from kundus and garamuts in partial prints.
“We decided to do a ranch in the line.
“So the designs are not from one particular area like I did with my past line.”
Korimbo said they planned to venture into children’s clothing in the near future.
“We were actually trying to go into that but when the Covid-19 came, there was a downturn in business. When sales pick up, we’ll venture into that.”
She said there was good feedback from customers and sales were good from her clothing line Niugini Native.
Jack’s of PNG retail store manager for Waigani Central branch Vikesh Kumar said the men’s and women’s wear were sold at affordable prices.
“We’ve had good feedback from customers because she (Korimbo) is coming up with different designs from different provinces.”
Korimbo recently renewed her three-year contract with Jack’s of PNG.
She had been designing for Jack’s since 2017.
