Development side finish on top at trials

THE Port Moresby Rugby League Development side and Central Provincial League ended the Southern Confederation trials unbeaten yesterday.
PRL Development in pool A and CPL in pool B were the overall winners over the two-days trials.
PRL’s experience and class shown through over their rivals.
In the match of the day, PRL Development beat PRL Seniors (1) 20- 16 after leading 14-4 at halftime.
PRL Development comprising prospects were faster and fitter than the other sides in their pool.
Mala Mark was named the player of the tournament.
Favourites PRL Seniors rested stars Maima Wei, Brenda Goro and Carol Humeu but Vero Waula, Cathy Neap and Naomi Kaupa played but that was not enough even though they won the second stanza 12-4.
Newcomers CPL, Kerema, Hiri West, Koiari, UPNG and Pom Souths gave a good account of themselves but the day belonged to the PRL sides.
The Southern Confederation women’s squad was named at the end of the games with PRL sides predictably dominating the selections with 20 players.
