Digicel supports Pepes in tourney

DIGICEL has continued its support for PNG netball with a sponsorship in kind to the Pepes to assist with their preparations for the FairPrice Foundation Nations Cup in Singapore on Dec 5-11.
“Following its September announcement, Digicel has extended its support to the national netball team with the presentation of  Digicel-branded T-shirts, caps, watches and back-to-school packs; a hundred of each items respectively,” the company said in a statement yesterday.
PNG Netball president Julienne Leka-Maliaki was on hand to receive the items on Tuesday.
“Digicel has been the most loyal sponsor of our netball programmes and they are great partners and we are appreciative of their support in kind to the PNG Pepes.”
Digicel PNG operations director Lorna McPherson said: “Digicel is passionate about the development of sport in PNG and we are proud to be associated with netball to help develop and support this code in PNG.
“We wish the Pepes all the best in their preparations towards their upcoming games.”
The Pepes are one of the six participating national teams that had been confirmed for the FairPrice Foundation Nations Cup.
Other competitors are Fiji, Malaysia, Namibia, Sri Lanka and Singapore.
The Nations Cup is an annual netball competition organised by Netball Singapore.
It was first held in 2006 in Singapore and featured PNG, Scotland and Canada.
