THE Organic Law on Provincial and Local Level Governments will be reviewed to strengthen service delivery in the provinces, self-reliance and
financial independence, Deputy Prime Minister and Inter-Government Relations Minister Leo Dion said yesterday.
He also proposed to develop a ministerial action plan that would review and make amendments to certain laws related to provincial and local level governments.
Dion made the remarks to parliament when delivering his ministerial statement yesterday.
He said changes to the law would enable it to be aligned with all other enabling
legislations that mandated national agencies so that
there was no competing and overlapping interest.
Dion also planned to mainstream border security and development goals into the provincial government agenda so as to avoid duplication and to aggressively address and contain transnational criminal activities.
