A DIRECTOR of a technical school in Central has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and released on police bail, police said.
Acting Central commander Chief Insp Tapp Opai said according to a police brief from the Kwikila Police Station, Lalau Burana, 44, of Saroa village in Rigo, director of Kwikila Technical Training Institute at Kwikila, was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of a 24-year-old man at Kwikila last Thursday.
Chief Insp Opai said it was alleged that on April 30 at Kwikila Station, Burana had an argument with Elijah Kila who blocked off the driveway to his house.
He said both were under the influence of alcohol at that time.
Chief Insp Opai said while arguing, Burana used a bush knife that he had in his possession and slashed Kila on his right palm.
He said Kila was taken to the Kwikila Health Centre and treated.
“Burana was arrested on the same day and was detained in the cell at the Kwikila Police Station and was later released on police bail.
“He was allowed on bail because the courthouse was closed due to Covid-19.
“With the understanding that he had a proper residential address, he was released on police bail.”
Chief Insp Opai said the man was released on K1,000 bail and would appear in court when court reopened in Kwikila.
