THE Morobe government is looking at reviving church infrastructure and help with other resources to encourage strong Christian faith among believers, says Governor Ginson Saonu.
The help will come under the church partnership programme of the Morobe government.
Last Sunday, Saonu presented K100,000 to community leaders in Aluki village in Bukawa, Nawaeb, to assist in the reconstruction of the late Sir Dr Wesley Kigasung Memorial church building.
While presenting the funds, Saonu emphasised the quality of the project partnership under the programme and the need for effective reporting and proper acquittals for funds usage towards the project.
“With the funds given now, it is expected that the project is completed swiftly and transparently,” he said. Over the years, many leaders in the church and community as well have initiated and engaged in several fundraisings towards rebuilding the age
old church building as was revealed.
The funding support will complement the efforts put in over the years to raise enough funds towards the redevelopment of the church building.
In terms of accountability towards the usage of funds and project completion, Saonu urged the people of Aluki to follow what Mumeng Parish had done.
“Mumeng Parish applied for funds to build a church building,” he said.
“After receiving the funding and completed the church building, they furnished an acquittal report in January and that is transparency and accountability.”
