PAPUA New Guinea netball veteran and Esco Telstars head coach Veitu Diro (pictured) says her side’s height advantage will be the key to victory.

This weekend the premier division of the Port Moresby Netball competition will feature another thrilling match between reigning champions Telstars and Monier Paramana at the Rita Flynn Netball Courts.

Diro said yesterday that Telstars height advantage at either end of the court would tip the match in their favour but she warned her charges not to think it would alone would win them the game.

“They are a very experienced team with well-trained players so we are expecting a tough game,” Diro said.

Paramana’s Ravu Raula and Susan Wellington form a formidable defensive pair while shooters Rakara Raula and Vavine Iamo will be backed by a strong mid-court led by Kula Iamo.

Telstars shooter Albertine Ehari, who travelled with the Pepes to the Pacific Netball Series in Samoa earlier in the month, will be a threat to her opponents this weekend as she teams up with Gamini Koroka while Raka Nope and Dorcas Ilagi form the defensive ring.

Diro said she was expecting a good challenge but felt her side would pull through.

“The girls have trained well. It’s the team that makes the least errors that will win,” she said.
