Dirty coins

Letters

I AM concerned that PNG coins are being soiled and dented by children playing with them on the streets or on the ground, especially in the nation’s capital.
These damaged coins are then circulated through transactions. Some of these coins have ended up in my possession.
I collected them and tried to exchange them for clean ones at a commercial bank, but they were rejected. These coins are now useless and therefore of no value.
Can the Central Bank put out a warning against this bad practice of children tossing coins on the ground in a gamble with others?
We have to respect our national currency. Nobody wants to handle dirty and dented coins.
Over to you BPNG.
