MICHAEL John is 16 years old and developed a medical condition when he was younger.

He is unable to run or walk and he does not no toes.

He would fill boots with socks to lift his leg.

John is a very strong and passionate about his education.

He did not give up going to school while in that condition and has achieved excellent academic results.

He is in Grade 8 at Morata Primary School in National Capital District.

He will be moving to secondary level to compete with normal children.

John will be graduating today and is supported by his family and care-givers.

He was first introduced by the community based rehabilitation-trained worker Susan Otti.

Physiotherapist Saimonah Mokupe assessed and referred him to the National Orthotic and Prostheric Services for a bilateral orthosis in 2013.

With donor agencies, NOPS managed to change his life by helping him to walk normally. The Cheshire Disability Services PNG community-based rehabilitation team will continue to support him.

The project saw John engage in the Youth Voice campaign programme.
