I SUPPORT the criticism by Opposition Leader Don Polye that the funds allocated for the current disaster relief is insufficient. How can the Government allocate K25 Million for the 40th Independence Anniversary celebrations when the rural people of are suffering due to the current drought and frost? That is a total waste of money for a day’s celebration when the dry season is set to say for months, putting lives and well-being of our affected people at risk. This is insensitive of the Government, which must increase funding for the disaster stricken areas. Postponing the celebrations as suggested by Polye is an excellent suggestion.
