ALMOST 800 displaced people living at a care centre outside Wewak have requested for an audit into funds allocated by the National Government.
Minister for National Planning and Monitoring Richard Maru and Inter-Government Relations Minister and Wewak MP Kevin Isifu visited the Dandan Care Centre at Turubu.
They heard several concerns relating to welfare of the people of Kadovar Island following volcanic activity earlier this year.
Councilor Stanley Muren said that apart from wanting the funds audited, the community did not have enough food for families and there was concern with security.
He said the people needed boats for fishing.
Maru and Isifu assured the refugees that all concerns would be looked into, starting with an audit of the funds.
Isifu said the district was also considering other options for the permanent relocation of the people from Kadovar.
The two leaders also visited Banak Primary School in Wewak district which is in a bad state and needs to be rennovated.
