A DISTRICT in East Sepik invests K3 million every year in the hope of achieving quality education for its human resource.
Yangoru-Saussia MP Richard Maru, during a tour to Marinumbo Primary School on Monday, said the district wanted the best classrooms and accommodation for students and staff alike.
He explained that the subsidy scheme for students from the district attending tertiary institutions was on hold this year.
But, he said the scheme would resume next year once work on two high schools in the district was completed.
“Every year we (Yangoru-Saussia district development authority) spend K3 million or more on education,” Maru said.
“This year we are building two new high schools at Wingei and Numbo.
“As a result, we haven’t paid subsidy to help our children who went into tertiary institutions this year.
“As soon as the schools are completed and fully resourced, we will get back into the subsidy scheme next year.
“Yangoru-Saussia is focused in quality education.”
Marinumbo Primary School head teacher Geoffrey Klahuna thanked the district for funding its four-in-one classroom and a staff house for K200,000.
Local contractor Ben Yafanduo said work on the four-in-one classroom was almost completed.
“We expect to complete everything by next week.”

  • Thank you Honorable Member, for leading the way in bringing services to the people of Yangoru Sausia. Best Member, so far, in the history of Yangoru Sausia Electorate. I salute your Very Good Efforts. One Suggestion, for you to look at establishing 4 Vocational Centres. 1 in Numbo, 1 in Sauso, 1 in East Yangoru & 1 in West Yangoru to cater for those of our children who cannot make it to higher instituions. All The Best!!!

  • In the future, all the jobs from the boss down to the tea-boy will be occupied by an Engan. That’s because of the work of the MP Ipatas. MP Maru is following suit but what about the others????

    • Yes, that’s very true others MPs are blind leaders they can’t see in real context with what is happening, for example get a statistical survey and you will be amazed that key the Governmental positions are occupied by Engans.Another instance is at the cash office inside PNGDF Murray Barracks, some of them seen collaborating with relative soldiers or wantoks in producing false claims.Hence the area finance officer from Engan Province. He normally says no money for trainings and soldiers operational allowances, etc. But they have money to pay hire cars owned by their business crownies. Also look at whose the chief secretary of PM , Finance secretary and Assist Finance secretary of PNGDF and down to cheque printer, they all comes from Engan.ino gat other Pngans for this positions. We need a New Prime Minister from coastal to be Prime Minister either from Papua, Momase or NGI regions. Enough from clusters of pigs and dogs that chased away other away other animals for rightfull inheritances…”if we comes from GOD than we know how to share equally “”God bless PNG, from Sydney , Australia. Enough please Lon wantoksytem na nepotism pasin.
