KUNDIAWA-Gembogl MP William Onglo says the district has good roads but lacks maintenance.
He was reacting to a comment by local entrepreneur Betty Higgins who stressed poor road and bridges as the main challenge of doing business in the province.
Higgins operates a trout farm and lodge at the foothills of the country’s highest peak Mt Wilhelm.
Onglo, who is also the Police Minister, said: “Eventually, once we finish the other roads we are working on then we will work on that section of the road.
“I am aware of Higgins’ concern and we will surely assist once we complete the roads we are working on.
“Our roads are good and need only maintenance and upgrading.
“It’s a small portion of her road leading towards her lodge.
“Right now, we have limited equipment and we working on our district agriculture roads.”
Onglo said people had taken all the district’s machines bought by the former MP and were keeping them.
He said the machines needed to be released back to the district office to be used to maintain the roads.
Onglo said villages and ward areas in Bona, Engrugl, Dangaugl, Gere and Kuma that had never had roads since independence are now having roads.
