YANGORU-Saussia will subsidise school fees of tertiary students whose parents live and work in the district, local MP Richard Maru says.
Maru said the district development authority would pay K1,000 for each student’s school fees.
“Regardless of where you are from, if you are a policeman, a nurse or a health extension officer working in Yangoru-Saussia, you will receive the district’s subsidy for your child who is attending a tertiary institution,” he said.
Maru said it was part of the district’s incentive to give job opportunities to public servants from other provinces.
He said students and parents were to go to their local level government offices, pick up the application endorsed by councillors to prove that the applicants were qualified for the subsidy before bringing it to the district office.
Maru said the district development authority had sponsored more than 4,000 students last year at a cost of about K450,000.
He said applications for the subsidy would close on Feb 15.
Maru said the due date was shorten because of the coming election and funding would be closed.
