District suffering from lack of service

Letters

THE Obura-Wonenara electorate in Eastern Highlands is the least developed district in the province.
Its district headquarter was relocated from Marawaka Station to Aiyura in 1998 for political interest.
Currently the administrative functions for the district is operating on the streets, in the hotels/lodges/guest houses, family homes and on vehicles since 2017.
People of Obura-Wonenara do not know where their district headquarter is located.
The Aiyura district office is like a ghost office without the district officers manning their offices to execute their delegated tasks.
People are asking themselves where the district officers on government payroll are.
When they go to Aiyura office, there is no one around to serve them as the office is abandoned.
Obura-Wonenara district requires an urgent audit to its District Support Improvement Programme (DSIP) funds.
Because there is no tangible developments or basic services such as roads, bridges and others.
Where was the DSIP fund of K10 million spent? The district is infected with allegations of corruption, mismanagement and fraudulent acts by the management.
There are allegations of ongoing misuse of district funds and assets/properties such as vehicles and machines.
In the 2020 project budget for Eastern Highlands, Obura-Wonenara has missed out on project funding.
This shows the incompetency of officers to perform their duties and lack of District Development Authority (DDA) to submit project plans for 2020.
The district bureaucrat’s maladministration, dishonesty and unethical corrupt practices is affecting the outback LLGs such as Yelia, Lamari and some parts of Tairora Gadsup.
People are struggling to earn an income to pay for their children’s education and health.
They are still carrying coffee bags on foot from Marawaka to Menyamya and Wonenara to Kainantu to pay for school fees for their children.
Can relevant authorities step in and carry out a thorough and honest independent audit to the district funds?
People of Obura-Wonenara wish to see services reaching them.
Any hindrances to the services rightfully belongs to the people should be eradicated.
People are still in doubt whether the acquittals submitted by the district administration are true or false information without any substance and reliability.
The DDA of Obura-Wonenara is a dead sleeping authority without vision and plan for the district.
The people of Obura-Wonenara desperately need basic government services.

  • I support your comments Mr Sinanakoi ,this very true saying so what is the reply for member of Obura Wonenara. Does he read newspaper paper or weeping unwantedly around aimlessly.
Published on the front page and let him see.

  • A silent and cripple district in Eastern Highlands over the centuries have regressed and stagnant while some other district flip advanced and utilise the government services. May be the district does not get any funds from the government, it is a sleeping and voiceless giant where no one voice concern. And no even impact project taking place due to administration team working on their self interest.
Marawaka Strugglers want government of the day to intervenes and do audition in all levels of Obura Wonenara district administration before The Marape’s Manifesto – Make PNG The Richest Black Christian Nation role out in the years to come so no child is left behind.
