SCHOOL inspectors in Central can now execute their roles effectively in district schools with the aid of motorcycles donated by the Central government.
Inspectors from Kairuku, Hiri, Abau, Goilala and Rigo accompanied by senior standard officer for Central Patrick Dimsock received the motorcycles from Central provincial education adviser Titus Hatagen at Kwikila Secondary school on Friday.
The motorcycles  were bought for K30,000 for each district under the provincial government’s divisional budget to boost the work of school inspectors, district education officers and district standard officers there.
These officers visit schools to inspect the progress of students, teachers and administration and report to the provincial education office in Port Moresby.
Hatagen said many elementary and high schools in the rural areas were inaccessible by road because of the distances, location and lack of roads.
It was therefore difficult to carry out constant school inspections.
“We are hopeful that these motorcycles  will achieve good and big outcomes in the work of inspectors in schools,” Hatagen said.
The provincial government had previously given two vehicles and a dinghy to the districts to assist in their work.
District administrator for Rigo Iobu Lalai said the resources would be used to promote quality education in the district.
“I will ensure this resource is used for its purpose,’’ he said.
“I will support the officers in any way to see that their work provides better education standard in the district and province as a whole.”
District standard officers and inspectors were urged to look after the motorcycles  as it was the only source of transport into the remote village schools.
