Dockers and Eagles maintain form in Esiloan premiership

LAMANA Dockers and West Eagles maintained their early winning form to make it two on the trot in their Port Moresby Esiloan AFL Premiership round two matches at the Colts Oval over the weekend.
The Dockers blasted their last year’s grand final victims Concept Koboni by a mammoth 10.6 (66) to 1.6 (12) on Saturday while the Eagles belted Gordon Kokofas 11.6 (72) to 4.3 (27) in the main match on Sunday.
Koboni were never in the contest from the start and sadly struggled to keep up with the tempo of the game thanks to the Dockers busy midfield.
Former Mosquito Archie Mai Jr was in top form winning kicks around the paddock with his usual sneaky running play to keep the wharfies on attack.
Ruckman Clyde Pulah and Laurie Logo also combined well with Desmond Kaumu, Chris Mong and Robert Kogens in the centre square to reign supreme over their Demons opponents.
Steven Ila, Brendan Beno, Haksy Ehava, Major Alphonse, Michael Macca and Paul Philip tried their best to stay in the contest but found themselves hitting the brick wall defence put up by the Dockers midfielders and back liners.
The match between West and Kokofas on Sunday began on equal footing but the Eagles played a better team-coordinated football to set up a sweet victory.
In the earlier match on Sunday, the spirited Bomana Cats proved too powerful and taught the Gereka Bombers a football lesson with a massive 14.13 (99) to 0.1 (1).
The Bombers, despite having PNG Mosquitoes spearhead Amua Pirika on their side, failed to find their ball-moving combinations across the flanks.
In the curtain-raiser match on Saturday, the rejuvenated University Tigers clawed the under-rated Gerehu Magpies 12.14 (86) to 1.2(8).
Meanwhile, all players wishing to switch clubs have been given until round five to sort out their transfers.
