Dockers run down Koboni

Sports

A SPIRITED Dockers outfit scored six goals in the final quarter to beat Concept Koboni 71-51 in the Port Moresby Esi Loan AFL Premiership minor semifinal at the Colts Oval on Sunday.
Koboni led 42-34 in the third quarter but the tide changed in the fourth with the Dockers claiming victory.
The game began on equal footing with Koboni scoring two early goals before the Dockers replied with a goal and three behinds.
The second quarter was also an even battle.
The Demons had the use of the wind in the third quarter and should’ve made the most of it, but strong defensive play by the Dockers backline forced the red and blue army into all sorts of offensive errors, particularly in midfield.
Koboni faltered badly and only managed two goals and three behinds out of five scoring chances while the Dockers notched one goal and a behind.
It was all plain sailing for the Dockers in the final quarter.
The Dockers take on the minor premiers West Eagles on Sunday to earn the first grand final spot while Koboni face Cats in a do-or-die encounter.
