THIRD-PLACED Dockers will be looking to continue their winning run when they face Kokofa-Cats, who are second, in the Port Moresby AFL (POMAFL) competition at the Colts Oval tomorrow.
Following last week’s 60-7 defeat of Koboni-Magpies, Dockers swill be looking to improve their combinations against Kokofa-Cats.
“Last week’s game was probably one of our biggest wins this season,” Dockers coach Stanis Isu said.
“But if we’re going to be a better side, there’s still a lot things we have to work on.
“We’ve improved since the start of the competition this year, but we still need to work on our passing and decision making which will be the key for us this weekend.”
Isu commended the leadership pairing of ruckman Sebastian Bai and forward Kelly Kaugla for helping the side ease past Kokofa-Cats who were led by skipper Bena Michael. The second match of the weekend will see ladder leaders West Eagles face Koboni-Magpies who are yet to register a win this season.
Despite returning to pole spot following last week’s 42-31 win over Kokofa-Cats, Eagles coach Danny Meli said his men would not take any side lightly.
Meanwhile, POMAFL president Douglas Lai told The National that this weekend would also see the second round of women’s matches with only two teams for the season.
“The women’s competition is made up of two teams who are a mixture of players from all four clubs that competed last season,” he said.
“Both teams will have friendly matches and will play their grand final on Nov 28.
“The idea is to ensure that they all remain interested ahead of next season.
“All clubs have been encouraged to field women’s teams next season.”
